TEACHING IN KOREA
" I had to teach the same level of class with the same textbook for three years, but my approach was never the same. Each year, how I approached the subject was different, but they worked because those were uniquely designed for each group of students. The reason why culture and learning style was such a controversial issue is because it could easily generalize and label students into certain groups. Culturally, habitually, and intellectually students are all different. "

Head Teacher | Wonderland Daechi
As a teacher and head teacher of Wonderland Daechi in Korea, I designed and coordinated lesson plans for K-5 students. As a teacher I fostered a classroom environment for active interaction and fluent English communication; assess students every other month; and administrate one-on-one conference session with each student's parent/guardian every month.
As a head teacher, I participate and organize faculty meetings and workshops; compose and design assessment tools; research and make a selection of textbooks; develop new curricula; and supervise teachers especially in higher-level classes.
Teacher | Yeona Kindergarten
Based on public Kindergarten Education curriculum, the educational objective pursues a whole-person education. A child's development of five developmental territories -- physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and language development -- is the objective and the goal of education and lesson planning. Each month's lessons are planned according to the educational theme in each month: My kindergarten and me; spring; my family and town; animals and tools; summer and health; transportation; fall; my country and other countries; winter; New Year; going to first grade.

Curriculum Development
Holidays and Celebrations in American Culture for Young Learners.
This curriculum is developed with the purpose of teaching language through the process of linguistic socialization where students do not only the language, but learn the culture, the cultural use of language, and their membership as part of a cultural community. This curriculum uses the medium of arts as a way to support students expressing their thoughts and feelings. Moreover, the curriculum generally pursues the objective of educating students as a whole person, not simply teaching English or artificial cultural practices. A total of six holidays/celebrations are covered in this 12-week-long curriculum: Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine's Day. Sample lesson plans and materials are provided for Week 7-8: Christmas. Attached document includes the rationale, background, need assessment, forms of evaluation, objectives, course schedule, and sample lesson plans.
